If I'm Quiet

I've been quiet the past few weeks. If it helps I have a pretty good reason, at least one I could have vented a good deal about which I didn't. I guess I took it out on the internet as a whole rather then one specific part, we're slowly getting back on to good terms but it owes me a big apology.

What happened you ask?

Well one day last week I went to log onto my yahoo account and got an error message with my password. Not thinking too much into it I figured my fingers slipped on the keys and simple re-entered it. I think tried 10 different combinations of the password I knew was correct even though yahoo told me it wasn't. Finally I decided to by-pass the issue and reset my password by answering a few basic questions and one secret question, it's something I've had to do before so no worries right? Wrong it said my answers were wrong. Last time I checked my birthday, zip code, city of birth and name hadn't changed in the past 6 years. But apparently it did. What does that mean? It means I don't have access to my HUGE list of IM friends and address, tons of saved e-mails and documents, and all the notifications for the boards I'm part of. Just like MySpace. Did I try to change my linked address to a new yahoo one? Yes, but wait they send a notification e-mail to your original address which you have to click a link on for it to work. Gab Damn It!!! And it's not like I have a back-up for all my e-mail address, so I can't tell my friends about what happened they'll just think I went BLIP off the edge of the world.

On the plus side, yes there's a plus side, I'm 95% sure I know what happened. I'm a member of a message board at www.invisionfree.com, to create a log-on and post messages you have to enter your e-mail address and password so they can send you notifications. Well around the same time this happened to me another member mentioned that her account was deleted some how and was asking for IM information from others on the board so she could re-build her list. My guess is we were hit by the same hacker. On the plus side at least my account hadn't been deleted, I know this because I sent myself an e-mail from my new address and didn't get a failure notice back.

*sigh*

Hopefully the people at Yahoo can help me get my account back cause there are a few things I can't do and lots of people I can't notify if it's gone for good.

!! Update!!

Yahoo did nothing for me.
