I shouldn't Laugh
Last night Anna (my 4 year old daughter) and I were walking hand-in-hand thru the parking lot of Fred Meyers. It was dark being near 6:00 pm, as we walked down the row she made some quiet comment about closing her eyes. I looked down to her with a smile, only able to see the thick purple fleece hat covering her head. Like always right as we got to the back of the car I let her hand go so she could beat me to the car door like she always does (A new game she picked-up at Daycare "I Win, you Lose"). Just like she always does she ran straight between my car and the one next to ours.

SMACK!!!
Thud

She runs right into the driver's side mirror on the car next to ours, which lands her flat on her back crying. I run the two steps to her, pick her up and hold her close while I open the door to the car. We sit inside, her curled in my lap. After making sure there wasn't any blood or damage more then a red spot I asked her the important question, "Anna were you running with your eyes closed?"

She nods her head as the tears stream down her cheeks. I couldn't help chuckling . . . only a sweet child would do something like that . . . running in a parking lot at night with her eyes closed. Guts, that's what she has.

I then apologized to her, not realizing that she had been walking with her eyes closed. But I also told her that it's not safe to go walking around with our eyes closed.

Then I spoke the simple phrase that cures all owies. Looking up I see the B&R, "Would ice cream make your head feel better?" I don't think I need to tell you her answer.

When we got home she wanted an ice pack for her forehead, which she used after she spilt her neon blue-green-purple ice cream on my tan carpet. She got in a little bit of trouble for not telling me about it till after she tried cleaning it up.

I still feel bad cause I still laugh about it, where's a camera when you could have used one.
