| Playing Catch-up [Part II] |
Christmas Eve: Though I didn't need to do any last minute shopping my little brother asked for a ride so that he could do his before heading to work. Well he and I never got a hold of each other because I got back home so late the night before [was off food shopping]. Well I called him for about 45 minutes that morning expecting to need an early start to go shopping and grab a promised lunch before getting him to work by 1:00pm. Come 11:00 I headed down to the shopping mall near his work, where I thought he was going to go shopping. Hoping to find him hopping from store to store, or at least heading to his favorite noodle bar for lunch I would find him and all would be good. Well 2 hours passed without a single sighting, Anna and I even had lunch at Zoa's in hopes he would come in. But no such luck, we headed back home once his clock in time for work passed.
Having spent aimless hours walking around a mall without being able to buy anything, and feeling rather bummed that I didn't get to hang-out with my little bro like I had planned I was rather tired when I finally got home. Popping in a video for Anna I told her that I was going to lay down for a nap, I set my alarm so that I would wake-up two hours later. Leaving plenty of time after I wrapped all my gifts to go pick-up Aaron from work. As timing is everything I had just crawled into bed, found the most comfortable position and was nearly in laa-laa land when my phone rang. Figuring it was my little brother checking in to find out what went wrong I picked up the phone without paying too much attention to the number. Besides knowing it was my area code. I was surprised to hear a male non-brotherly voice on the other line. It was Jeff, I guy I've spent a few hours talking with at the mall and had later invited over to my house so that I could introduce him to the Loverly Boondock Saints. He was calling to see if I had plans for Christmas Eve, if I didn't then maybe the two of us could watch a few Christmas movies. Well being a long standing single girl, given the option to spend an evening curled up on a couch next to a cute 6'-4" personal trainer who comes with a nice guy smell attached to him or picking up my little brother from work . . . ok in all honesty it was a hard decision. I love picking up my little brother from work, I always have a ton of fun chatting or better listening to him on the ride home. But having a slash against him from last weekend, and the offer from my older brother to pick him up on his way back from the in-laws I decided to take him up on his offer.
We watched Family Man and Christmas with the Kranks, then he even helped me put together my daughter's bike. A bike which came with Zero instructions, well the instructions that came with it told you how to piece together the parts already assembled . . . didn't tell you anything about putting the big pieces together. And this is a little girl's princess bike so there are accessories that need to be figured-out. It took a little longer then planned but we got it together without fearing it would fall apart once my daughter sat on it. Oh by the way she was still up while we were doing this. She was hiding in her room watching movies until it was WAY too late. Jeff didn't go home until after Midnight. Oh did I mention he brought a plate full of cookies and treats that his mom made? Three kinds of bread people, I had banana, Zucchini and homemade carrot cake all to myself along with an array of treats. There was a lot of chatting, a little teasing and a great big hug when we said good-bye. All in all it was a cool evening, a nice way to start out the day. |
