Treading Water
Ever have a busy weekend, where you get some major things done but you fall behind on others? Ya that happened to me over this last weekend. We (Me, Best Friend, her Mom, future Mother-In-Law, my Mom & my daughter) all went to the BIG bridal show. Ok I've never been to a show at the Convention Center at 10:30 in the morning where the show opens at 11:00. There were hundreds of women already there, hug lines everywhere. I even was informed by a Cop working the show that this morning show doesn't allow strollers due to the high number of people there . . . there just isn't room inside for them. So she directed me to where I was to leave the stroller. Telling this to my daughter cause me to deal with a very upset little girl, who only wanted to sit quietly in her stroller and play her Leap Pad. Do know what that was like? To actual deny my daughter the ability to quietly sit and entertain herself while I oogled all the pretties. It was painful.

Any who that was most of Saturday, and then Sunday after church (*Does a little dance* yes I actually made it to church this week) the same group piled into my Mom-s Van and went up to Vancouver. The Hostess House was one of the many shops that participated in a fashion show on Saturday. The happened to show Melanie's dream dress, a mix of renisants and old world charm. Though this wasn't the first shopping session we had for a wedding dress, where Mel looked Great in lots of dress' the dresses she tried on looked great but really didn't match who Melanie was. I couldn't even try to imagine the look on Melanie's face when she walked out in this off the shoulder ivory and gold dress that looked straight out of old world Europe. Though it wasn't the one in the show, cause it was still at the show. The only real difference was that the dress she had on now didn't have a train . . . which was perfect cause she didn't want one to begin with. Did I mention aside from a few extra inches in length the dress fit her perfectly? How much more of a sign do you need. And to add icing to the cake everyone was in agreement about the dress, which is a feat considering the taste difference between Mel's family and her soon to be Mother-In-Law.

Because all weekend was spent on wedding details, gathering information and finding the PERFECT dress it left me ZERO time to get what I wanted to do. Which was cleaning and laundry, specifically the kitchen. One of thing that annoy me about cooking, the dishes it leaves behind. So I get to do cleaning tonight (including a bath for my daughter) and then Laundry will be done tomorrow at my parent's house since I'll be over there to watch my Tuesday Prime-Time shows anyways.

Game Plan
I plan on having a winning week, not the winning type of week where I get a ton accomplished. Like completely organizing my house, painting my room, re-painting my living room, finish painting my entry way and hall, not to mention get all my Christmas boxes in storage and giving my house a top to bottom scrubbing. Not that would be a dream, hmm, something I should really start working on before my apartment falls into the pig-sty category.

Anyways I plan on winning contests, though I always hope to win the Megabucks or the Lottery I don't expect that to happen this week since I didn't buy a ticket. But I did happen to win a weekend trip up to Vancouver BC as well as my choice of DVD player or digital camera. All I have to do is sit thru a presentation for Trendwest, a private hotel/resort group that my parent's are already part of. I also plan on winning a radio contest on Friday, which will take me and one lucky person down to Las Vegas for a weekend in February to catch Michael Buble in concert. I've actually never been to Vegas before, so a child-free weekend in the city of sin and kick-ass dance clubs has me absolutely gitty. Next week I plan on entering a contest that will win my daughter her very own portable DVD player (which we'll share) and 4 classic movies she's sure to love.

Oh on an unselfish note I've been scheming all week as to how to win my two best friends a contest that will give them $25,000 to put towards their wedding. Yup I'm heading to the NW Portland Bridal show, as Maid of Honor it's my duty to go look at all the pretty things, taste-test lots of cakes and allow some hair stylist to give me an up-do for free. Such a painful task, then again it means another bride's maid dress to buy . . . that could be a good or bad thing *crosses-fingers*.

*Giggles to self* I doubt this weekend will be as fun as the first Bridal show I went to. I had a high school friend who was getting married so she invited me and a few other girls to come with her. I in-turn brought a friend of mine, Rachel. We didn't want to be two girl's tagging along after a friend who was getting married (specially not being part of the bridal party). So we opted to try a little roll-play, we went around as though we were getting marries . . . to each other that is. We got lots of compliments and business cards, it was a hoot. Rae and I planned out the majority of our wedding, even having a little argument over some little detail. It makes me giggle just thinking about it *sigh* I miss her.

Question of the Day: Is it worth saving up the $150 to go see my favorite hair stylist, who I always leave looking fabulous. Or should I risk my hair and go see a stylist that will be cheaper but not really knowing their skill level?

Life’s Remote
Ever have those days where you wish you had a remote to control life? Pause a perfect moment, rewind and do something different, fast forward to a better time? Out of all those options I think I'd use the fast forward button . . . skip past all this in-between time. My heart and soul wants to find peace and contentment, a happy ending. I'm tired of living in an apartment on my own, I wish there was someone to come home to every night other then my fuzzy Furbie. Find that missing piece to my little family . . . I know I'm just your typical girl spouting on about childish things. But perhaps if I write it down somewhere I'll be able to find some contentment where I am. I know eventually I'll find the Love of my life, marry, together create a home and set down roots but till then . . . till then I should just be happy with what I have and all the time I get with my daughter. It's just every once in a while those girly emotions hit me hard specially seeing my brother and new sister so happy and in Love . . . that and seeing my best friends finally getting engaged and planning a wedding.

Hey before you start thinking I'm some crazed girl looking to get married quick like I'll correct you right there. I know all to well that Love isn't something you can rush, it happens in it's own time (damn it). So here's to learning patience and finding the joy in every day life.

Question of the Day: Should I re-paint my living room?

Playing Catch-up [Part III]
Christmas:
I'm happy to say that my daughter didn't open her presents while I was sleeping. This is the first year that's she's really grasped the concept of Christmas. And even did the bit where she asks if it's Christmas yet, and then tries to convince me thru a long chain of "Yes it Is" that it was Christmas. Well she got to open her bike, well it was reveled to her when I drew back the blinds so that she could see the surprise waiting for her on the porch. Well we both put shoes on, and made sure our robes were secured tightly around our jammas before we went for a bike ride around our apartment building. Biking is still a new concept to her so it'll take her a few rides till she feels secure enough with being able to stop the bike without bailing out.

With our other presents gathered and put into the car, as well as everything needed to make deviled eggs and fruit salad we drove over to my parent's house to spend the day. Oh did you notice I didn't mention anything about bringing a change of clothes, it's cause I didn't. Anna and I had every intention of spending the whole day in out pj's. Perhaps I should explain this to you, my brother, sister and Mom all have to work today. Which means gifts will be done at night, it's against all things Christmas to open gifts not in pj's. Well the good news is that My mom was put on call, which meant she was home all day. My little brother spent most of his time in the kitchen making dinner (Prime Rib, mashed potatoes, stuffing, etc). Jeremy and Taysia were due home around 3:30 so we'd eat around 4:00. My mom gave each of us a gift in the morning, to hold us over till that evening. My gift was Gilmore Girls Season 3, which I began watching right away as I ate a Cinnamon roll. It was about 11:00am when I started feeling crapy. Only ate half of my beloved homemade cinnamon roll . . . then the headache set in . . . then I was hot, only to find myself freezing the next minute. Oh did I mention my dad got sick on Thursday? Ya he was wrapped up on the second couch hacking up a lung now and then.

So in short I made about half of the deviled eggs I had planned and completely axed the fruit salad. Dinner was great, very yummy even though it didn't take a ton to fill me up. I was taking anti-headache pain medication every 4 hours on the dot to keep the threatening pain at bay. Opening gifts was fun, even if it was a little crazy. I got tears out of my mom from my gift, a nice bonus. And I think everyone enjoyed their gifts from me, at least I can hope they did. I got wonderful gifts from everyone. I really fun game from Taysia and Jeremy, cool how to draw Anime and Chibi's from my little brother and a cute Furby from my daughter. My parents were wonderful with their gifts and luckily everything fit in my car without having to strap my daughter to the hood. I called it an early night after one round of Seen It, which Melanie and I won with great skill.

Playing Catch-up [Part II]
Christmas Eve:
Though I didn't need to do any last minute shopping my little brother asked for a ride so that he could do his before heading to work. Well he and I never got a hold of each other because I got back home so late the night before [was off food shopping]. Well I called him for about 45 minutes that morning expecting to need an early start to go shopping and grab a promised lunch before getting him to work by 1:00pm. Come 11:00 I headed down to the shopping mall near his work, where I thought he was going to go shopping. Hoping to find him hopping from store to store, or at least heading to his favorite noodle bar for lunch I would find him and all would be good. Well 2 hours passed without a single sighting, Anna and I even had lunch at Zoa's in hopes he would come in. But no such luck, we headed back home once his clock in time for work passed.

Having spent aimless hours walking around a mall without being able to buy anything, and feeling rather bummed that I didn't get to hang-out with my little bro like I had planned I was rather tired when I finally got home. Popping in a video for Anna I told her that I was going to lay down for a nap, I set my alarm so that I would wake-up two hours later. Leaving plenty of time after I wrapped all my gifts to go pick-up Aaron from work. As timing is everything I had just crawled into bed, found the most comfortable position and was nearly in laa-laa land when my phone rang. Figuring it was my little brother checking in to find out what went wrong I picked up the phone without paying too much attention to the number. Besides knowing it was my area code. I was surprised to hear a male non-brotherly voice on the other line. It was Jeff, I guy I've spent a few hours talking with at the mall and had later invited over to my house so that I could introduce him to the Loverly Boondock Saints. He was calling to see if I had plans for Christmas Eve, if I didn't then maybe the two of us could watch a few Christmas movies. Well being a long standing single girl, given the option to spend an evening curled up on a couch next to a cute 6'-4" personal trainer who comes with a nice guy smell attached to him or picking up my little brother from work . . . ok in all honesty it was a hard decision. I love picking up my little brother from work, I always have a ton of fun chatting or better listening to him on the ride home. But having a slash against him from last weekend, and the offer from my older brother to pick him up on his way back from the in-laws I decided to take him up on his offer.

We watched Family Man and Christmas with the Kranks, then he even helped me put together my daughter's bike. A bike which came with Zero instructions, well the instructions that came with it told you how to piece together the parts already assembled . . . didn't tell you anything about putting the big pieces together. And this is a little girl's princess bike so there are accessories that need to be figured-out. It took a little longer then planned but we got it together without fearing it would fall apart once my daughter sat on it. Oh by the way she was still up while we were doing this. She was hiding in her room watching movies until it was WAY too late. Jeff didn't go home until after Midnight. Oh did I mention he brought a plate full of cookies and treats that his mom made? Three kinds of bread people, I had banana, Zucchini and homemade carrot cake all to myself along with an array of treats. There was a lot of chatting, a little teasing and a great big hug when we said good-bye. All in all it was a cool evening, a nice way to start out the day.

Playing Catch-up [Part I]
The Week Leading to Christmas:
Haa haa haa I have all my Christmas shopping done. Yup last Saturday, that leaves me the whole week to wrap presents. Oddly enough I spent the week buying replacement decorations for my tree and house rather then last minute gifts. Thankfully the Michael's was having a 50% off sale on all Holiday decor, though the pickings on boxed ornaments was very slim I found four boxes of ornaments that looked good together. The only sad note about it, Melman's going to look very Metro-sexual . . . yes the colors are various shades of pinks and mauves. But the important part is that Melman looks great and Anna got to help pick out the decorations. And in preparation for next Christmas I now have two lovely plastic totes with red and green lids for all my Christmas stuff. So finding it should be a ton easier come next year. Oh and why is it that it's the last minute strand of lights you add to the tree, you know the ones you forgot to check before you wrapped them around tree limbs . . . why is it those ones that have the short in it?
